so i heard a story tonight from a friend of my aunt's.
the woman's name is Shirley and she had a big mouth.
as my mom says,she doesn't put water in her mouth when she's talking; meaning..she holds NOTHING BACK!!
anyway...apparently her neice is married to the son of this woman who goes to the same place of worship as my mom. this woman taught me in Sunday school.her name's Shireen.(i call her miss shireen for obvious reasons)
shireen wanted to get her wayward son (Raeed) married off to cure him of his wicked wicked ways. so they got this meek sweet girl (Aaliyah)...who was lots younger than him and who just happened to be an orphan with no real family to speak of.
pretty soon Raeed is showing his true clours to this naieve young woman. the police start bringing him home quite often, for drunk and disorderly conduct and for pretty much just being high as fuck on marijuana. now Aaliyah is shocked, to say the least, at these horrendous episodes.
Ahhh....wait...th eplot thickens. Raeed takes Aaliyah's 14 yr old brother out the home he was in, out of the school he was in and had him staying at his house and gave him marijuana to smoke...and got him hooked on god knows what else...one day a distant relative of Aaliyah's found this shit out and hired a detective to follow Raeed.
and on one glorious beach day....the detective pointed Aaliyah's feet in the right direction and she saw for her own eyes Raeed giving her lil bro a joint.
now maybe weed isn't such a big thing...but when your husband is giving your 14 yr brother who never had ANY experience whatsoever with stuff like that before and your husband is more or less a criminal.......well then i'd say it was time to worry.
a little of Aaliyah's background story.
her dad killed her mom and she, her older bro (who i knew briefly at university)and her younger bro were placed in an orphanage.........they were abused really badly at this orphanage....physically, mentally, emotionally and in Aaliyah's case...........sexually.
i think some millionaire's took them in and cared for them....but i don't think that was a safe environment for them either.
she was a little girl at the time....6 years old.
it turns out that Shirley is Aaliyah's aunt and she's been trying to get in contact with Aaliyah to help her. but no-one knows where Aaliyah is. After a particularly bad episode with the police one night.....she took her stuff and left.....God alone knows where she is.......
her lil bro is back in the orphanage but for how long he may able to stay, i don't know. his attitude had changed and apparently he's a troublemaker now.
the older brother graduated university but he's a very damaged individual....who lives alone and dislikes people to invade his personal space. i don't know if that sentiment extends to his sister as well.
so thinks are pretty much fucked up for them......according to their very mouthy aunt Shirley.
i feel.............like i ought to be doing something. and i think i might have a way to track down Aaliyah.
She's doing her teacher's degree in this teacher's college, which is a branch of the university where i was working up until a few weeks ago.
i was working in the Student Services Department. so we had access to student records, contacts, addresses....personal information.
maybe i can use my contact at the office to try and find her.
